Hi mom! . . . And whoever else is receiving this in their email inbox or stumbling across my post on their own time.
Today, as promised, I am releasing the current first chapter from my second book, which encapsulates some of the big themes you’ll find in the first and third book as well.
The first chapter is only available to those who have a paid subscription, hints why I’m saying hi to my mom because as of now she’s my only paid subscriber.
Which is totally fine because: do I actually want to put out chapters and showcase this inner world of mine to the world? Not particularly. Not yet.
It’s been a very interesting journey to explore world creation in these books. That is . . . MY world. MY universe. MY brain. The way I see and experience life.
And especially for the years these books captures, life has been especially hard.
Since I’m living book three as we speak, as far as I know the trajectory takes a surprising and happy turn that will make the journey through these three books worth it; to know what happens we’ll all have to wait though, because I am indeed still living my way into that ending.
What might you expect from these books?
Travel. Spirituality. Culture. Mental health. Exploring my place and purpose in the world. Internal battles. A whole lot of food and the imbibing of substances. Renegotiating reality for myself. A enduring love story. Defining community and family. Personal Growth. Deep, holistic health and healing. Meditation. Hallucinogens and ceremony.
I don’t actually take any psychedelics in my first and second books, but they’re alluded to here and there, and set the stage for my third book.
These books are incredibly real and vulnerable, and likely an adventure you won’t believe is fully true at times. But all of it is, to my lived experienced (and to the extent in which I remember it), a memoir served as a first-person adventure novel that allows the reader to move through these worlds as if in real time with me.
I hope you enjoy them.
If you’re not my mom and want access to read this chapter, subscribe here or donate $7 or more to Venmo (@drakecarnahan) and I’ll give you access (this option is for personal friends who I know in real life only)!
A subscription or donation is a simple way to support this writing journey I’m on, but I appreciate any and all support I can get, even if it’s just a like, a share or a comment.
By the way, I’m currently partaking in the NanoWrimo 50k word writing challenge for the month of November 2024, starting today (November 1st!).
Alright mom. Here’s the first chapter of my second book!
Adios to everyone else!
